Spaghetti Again

I'm back now, in familiar surroundings. I missed Piccolo and the Man so much, even though the house is more of a disaster than it was when I left. I made his favorite dish tonight, pasta with jarred sauce, that I add ground sirloin, onions, and garlic to. Lately I'm loving Rao's Homemade sauce. It's the best I've found in years of making this supper! It was lovely to see the kids for the holiday, but at heart, I'm an introvert, and found myself irritable without some alone time. I didn't fall in to the Love Denver vortex that others in my family have been sucked into. I'm sorry, but I love Chicago, and would choose San Francisco over Denver if I ever were to move. For one thing, this city does not understand snow removal. A week later, and their sidewalks are still not shoveled. Even shopkeepers don't remove snow from their entrances. They just wait for the sun to melt it. They're in for a rude awakening tomorrow when another foot is supposed to hit them. And, the airport! No expansion problems there--it's so far out on the prairie, that it takes at least an hour from the city to get there, and there's just one road that goes out to the airport. Back home, I was frustrated to discover that Midway has some issues with signage--it took a long time for the to find the CTA terminal for getting back home, which involved two CTA trains. Downtown, on the el platform, I ran into one of my knitting buddies, Debi, returning from her own holiday trip.
Knitting wise, I got some progress made on my Red Scarf, and more sock knitting. I'm almost finished with my first Sock Hop sock. Of course, I found some knitterly things on my trip--like the early bird 30% off pre-inventory sale at A Knitted Peace in Littleton. Somehow, I ended up with yarn my sister in law purchased, for me to make her a Ribby Shell. Someone had scooped up the Ultra Alpaca I had in mind for my own Ariann, but I found some stuff for other projects, like some Arucania Chunky for the Central Park Hoodie in Knitscene. Also, a copy of The Opinionated Knitter! I'm going to include some Zimmermania into the project rotation in the months to come. I may participate in the Briar Rose Fibers Knitalong, if I'm ever successful in accepting the invitation. It's either pilot error, or thanks Blogger, for making it so easy (not). I could actually do a Briar Rose knit ahead, as so far I have one Sleeveless Eyelet Sweater, one Rosebud Vest, and three Tuscany Tanks knit with that luscious stuff.
The photo is a recently completed piece from the Lucky Penny custom shop, for a Whippet named Tiger Lily.

I would choose Chicago over almost anywhere. Denver didn't do much for me either and I've spent the night in that airport! Not a hotel in sight!

Let's see what we can do about that Briar Rose Invitation...
