The word bespoke is derived from the work bespeak, which means speak for something. In men's tailoring the term is reserved for a suit that is hand made for a specific client, starting from the pattern. The female equivalent is haute coture. You could say that Lucky Penny sweaters are like that, made to specifications from the customer, using materials that the customer has chosen.
Bespoke also implies high quality craftsmanship. I was surprised a few weeks ago when picking up Piccolo from the groomer. She had put Piccolo's sweater on inside out. It didn't occur to me until some time later. It speaks to the craftsmanship of this sweater. It's the Yoda sweater from
Doggie Knits, made with scraps from other projects.
