Project Spectrum--April

I started these socks some time ago, using some Lorna's Laces sport weight that I purchased at the annual mill end sale. I don't recall what year. One of the perks of living in Chicago, besides the lovely local shops, is that Lorna's Laces is dyed here, not too far from the Lucky Penny residence, and sometimes Beth Casey opens her doors to my Guild for a demonstration, and sale of "mistakes." One year, I was about ten minutes late, and there was nothing left! I don't think I'll go this year. One reason is the garage sale for The Fine Line is that same weekend, and I want to hit that. The other reason is that I really need to knit from stash for a while. Especially since I've been fear consuming for the last two weeks. It's a memorable line from the movie Bowling for Columbine. Marilyn Manson said it--that when people are scared, they will consume. I'm stockpiling! Shaky job situation. So, back to the sock. It's a pattern off the Interweave web site. I prefer Lorna's sport weight to the sock yarn. The other photo is of my woolly nylon stash--I always reinforce my heels and toes. After wearing socks for the last four years, even with reinforcement, my all wool socks are getting holes. At one time I had hoped to have a pair of socks in each of the Cherry Tree Hill colorways (that's how much I love CTH!), but some, because of holes, have been repurposed into digital camera cozies or sunglass cases. I have noticed that my Regia and Opal socks have really held up after years of wear. My Mountain Colors socks have held up fairly well, too. Judging from where my socks have worn out, I really need to reinforce past the gusset decreases. Unfortunately, I can't locate the off white that I used for the first orange sock. I'm considering using the orange wooly nylon I purchased recently. I'm debating if I want the socks to be that fraternal. I'll do one more hunt for my off white before I make a decision.
