A Good Friend

Last year, I had a sweater in mind. I knew the colors I wanted, and asked a friend to dye some wool for it. We both had so many projects going on, that the sweater and the yarn was mostly forgotten. Until one day this package shows up. An incredible gift. 2000 yards of Blue Faced Leicester. It glows. The weight was not right for the project I had originally intended it for, so I set the yarn aside, waiting for the right sweater project to appear. It did, this summer, in the book A Fine Fleece. There's lots of sweaters and socks to be made from this book. I'll use it, again and again, sort of like a favorite cookbook. The sweater is Kearsarge, which has raglan sleeves done in mistake rib. The neck treatment is a seed stitch placket. I'm 60% into the first sleeve now, so I expect to finish about the time I might need to wear it.
The yarn is Glory Days from Briar Rose Fibers. I'm so excited to be going to the Michigan Fiber Festival this Saturday, so I get the chance to have more, or maybe some other delights that Chris will have. The possibilities!

This is one of my favorite books...and the yarn? Can't beat Briar Rose. This is sure to be a beauty.

I'll miss the MFF wish I could see you. Have a wonderful time.

The yarn really does glow! That is my all-time favorite color mix. Incredible.

I'll have to look for that book.
